FAQ’s About Our Child Psychiatry Services

WHAT DOES PSYCHIATRY COST?

We accept self-pay clients via check or credit-card.

  • Initial Evaluation: $350/hr
  • Follow-Up: $175/ 30 minutes

IS PSYCHIATRY COVERED BY INSURANCE?

Yes, but our services will be considered “out of network.” We do not contract directly with insurance companies. A superbill can be provided to submit to insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients choose to pay using FSA/HSA funds.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PEDIATRIC PSYCHIATRIST AND A ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRIST?

Pediatrics typically cover children ages 0-20 and adolescents are typically considered children ages to 10-19. So, there is a lot of overlap between the two. We primarily see children ages 6-18 at Pivot Child Psychological Services.

HOW LONG WILL MY CHILD BE ON MEDICATION?

It just depends. There are so many variables that affect a child’s mental health it’s difficult to give a definitive answer. Every child is different which is why we have a thorough evaluation to develop a treatment plan.

There is ongoing communication between the caregivers and the psychiatric nurse on the child’s progress. When it is agreed that the goals and concerns have been fully addressed, it is time to graduate AND celebrate!

DO YOU ALSO SEE CLIENTS OLDER THAN 20 YEARS OLD?

While we specialize in children, we will work with adults on a case by case basis. Additionally, our team is trained to help adults who need psychiatric services.

Many children struggle not having the correct or right amount of their prescription. That’s why we work with you and the child to find a medicine and dosage that works. This way your concerns about the medication can fade away.
